Each year, housing providers are subject to a new set of laws, and 2026 will be no exception. Among those signed into law are the requirement that landlords furnish a working stove and refrigerator, changes to how security deposits are returned, rules relating to the use of algorithms in setting rents, and limits on evictions when tenants have a verified interruption in Social Security payments.
