We have a winner.

Brian Chuck took it down.

In a tournament where most brackets were effectively dead by the second weekend, Brian managed to stay disciplined, avoid the chaos, and come out on top.

That’s not luck—that’s survival.

A Familiar Lesson

If March Madness teaches anything, it’s that confidence doesn't equal control, and that's as true in a bracket as it is in rental housing. Rules change. Outcomes are unpredictable. And what looks like a sure thing can unravel quickly if you're not paying attention to the details.

That's something we see day in and day out at Bornstein Law. Not every situation has a clean win. But most have a smarter way through.

As a founder of Calvera Partners, Brian has been navigating the Bay Area apartment market since 2010. He focuses on the acquisition and investment management of all Bay Area, Dallas-Fort Worth, and future West Coast properties. Want to connect with Brian? He's always open to engage if you're looking to invest, sell, or simply want to trade real estate war stories.

Watching from afar, Brian says he's a long-time admirer of Bornstein Law, but he's fortunately avoided needing our services for anything official. We're ecstatic to hear.

If you're following along and not needing legal counsel, it usually means you're making smart decisions and avoiding the common landlord traps we see every day. That's the goal, with the understanding that if something gets too complicated or starts to drift, we're here when you need us.

Aside from winning some pocket cash, Brian asked us to donate to the San Carlos Education Foundation, a fabulous organization that works shoulder to shoulder with parents and the community to support innovative and core programs that are vital to an exceptional education.

To everyone who submitted a bracket—thank you. We saw confident picks, risky bets, and a lot of strong opinions about teams that didn’t make it past the first weekend. That’s exactly what makes this fun. We appreciate you taking the time to participate and engage with us.

We’ll be back again next March, and in the interim, Bornstein Law will continue sharing insights, updates, and practical guidance for housing providers navigating an increasingly complex landscape.
